Muah Chee's resting place

We had buried Muah Chee last night but it was too dark for me to take some pictures. So I took a few this morning.

Muah Chee's final resting place under this big tree. He is near to Mao Mao who was buried on the left of the photo where the bushes are.

Here's the close-up. See the little orange tag right in the middle of the photo? That's where we placed Muah Chee.

I took a look at his little house. He had stored some food there despite him not being able to eat the last 2 days. I guess those were stored between Saturday and Sunday as I have just cleaned his cage on Saturday night.

The food in the food tray was not touched for the last 2 days.

Muah Muah, we love you. Muuuak!

不久前老唱给Muah Chee听的歌:

Muah Chee Muah Chee 我爱你

又小又cute真美丽

毛毛的身体大眼睛

看见Muah Chee 真开心

Rest in peace, Muah Chee

Muah Chee was showing signs of discomfort yesterday evening when I return home from work. He was literally lying down in the cage with very very limited movement. He didn't respond when I patted him or even tried to carry him up. Even when he moved, it was obvious that his energy level was very low.

Since yesterday evening, I was feeling very lousy worrying about Muah Chee. When I woke up in the middle of the night a few times, I kept going to the cage to take a look at him. He was still in the motionless state. I heard some noises coming out from his mouth. Seemed to be panting or something like that. I noticed he had not eaten the food I gave, and the water bottle seemed to be still full. I was wondering if he was having respiratory problem.

I had a bad feeling that something was very wrong with him. But then, I wasn't able to do anything. I was very worried but at the same time, preparing for the worse. I kept patting him and asked if he was ok.

I left for work with a very heavy heart and an unsettling feeling this morning. Late morning (about 10.24am), I sms Dad to ask about Muah Chee. He told me Muah Chee was the same. Lying here and there, up the cage and down the cage, but low on energy.

Our sms-es continued and at about 1pm, dad asked if I was coming home earlier. I was puzzled. And his next sms was, "你的工作放得开吗?Muah Chee走了"

We brought Muah Chee home from Pet Lovers' Centre on 15 Jun 08. He was one month old then. So, he should be about 17 months old now. He came home very mini and in no time, he had grown into a little fattie! He was greedy, like any other hammies. He was cute. But he bites!

When I reached home, I saw Muah Chee in the cage. He really looked like he was sleeping. I took comfort in that. I patted him and he was already a little cold. I hope he didn't have to suffer a lot. I was not able to help him and I felt so handicapped.

We moved Muah Chee to this layer of paper and I spread some of his favourite sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds for him. He still looked so peaceful, isn't it so?

We placed him in this little box and buried him downstairs, near to Mao Mao. I hope both of them will be each other's company, and play together with the little angels in heaven.
I won't say farewell to Muah Chee, as he will always be around.
But, I am going to miss you lots. Rest in peace and hope you were happy in your one year plus with us.

Fruit-picking over the weekend (向天果?)

This weekend mornings were spent out early in the morning searching for the fruit with hubby. Understand this fruit can be used to make made into health supplements (don't ask me for what purpose cos I don't know the details...yet).

Since we know the fruits are needed and that there are many such trees around our areas, we do not mind the task of searching for them. We can take it as morning exercise. :)

Yesterday morning, we started off at Yio Chu Kang then to AMK Ave 3 and Ave 6.

This morning, we 'combed' the whole stretch of AMK Ave 10.

All in all, we have walk numerous kms.

This is the fruit on the tree. As the name goes, the fruit grows toward the sky. It's hard and heavy. Anyway, we can only pick the fruits that have dropped.

We don't really know what to look out for and since this is the first time we pick the fruits, we just 'whacked' everything we find. Show the 'experts' later and let us exactly which part is needed so that we can be more focused and can pick the right things.

Have you seen your rainbow?

How long do we need to put up with the rain? Does rainbow really come after rain? I thought I have been in the rain for a long time, and there is still no sign of clearing. No sign of clear blue sky, so how will the rainbow appear?

I have stopped wishing for the rainbow. I am now trying to look for a very sturdy umbrella, or maybe a raincoat.

Have you seen your rainbow?

Wonderful Saturday morning with Mooncakes and Tim Sum

After the lunar seventh month comes the mid-Autumn festival (or the mooncake festival). The mid-Autumn festival, 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar, this year falls on 3 October.

Dad has already made plans to buy our usual Teochew mooncakes from the traditional cake house in Geylang, Thye Moh. Each year, without fail, we will have our Teochew mooncakes (sweet tau sar and/or D24 durian). Thye Moh's durian mooncakes usually sell like hot cakes. It's worse when they cannot get the good durians and hence, the stock is limited.

Off we went this morning with dad to Thye Moh. Got stucked at the Aljunied MRT for close to half hour because of the heavy downpour.

Here's the old shop house where dad will buy our mooncakes without fail every year. Once in a while, we will follow him there. He knows the old uncles there after these years.

It's a traditional Teochew cake shop selling all kinds of teochew biscuits and cakes. During my wedding, we ordered our customary teochew cakes from here too.

They also sell the 'Long Feng' (dragon and phoenix) candles that is one of the traditional items for marriage. I am still complaining that I didn't have a pair of these when I got married. That was done away with because we were trying to make everything more simple and straightforward. I heard that with the candles, someone will basically have to ensure that the candles are lit throughout the wedding day as it is extremely inauspicious if the flame goes off.

But I thought the candles would have made the wedding with more feel! Heehee...

These are the teochew mooncakes with the different flavours. They must make sure to pack them only after the cakes cool off completely or else the cakes will get mouldy very quickly.

The packaged items. Will add on one more picture of the cut cake once we have done so. Yummy!
Tim Sum Lunch
Thank goodness the rain stopped after we have made our mooncakes purchase. We walked out of the street and decided to have our lunch at Ho Kee Pau cafe. They sell tim sum which I had been craving for the past few weeks.
Kong Bak (braised meat) Pao

Century egg porridge. The porridge is very thick which I enjoy very much. The century egg tastes nice and the minced meat has a very nice flavour (sesame oil, I think)

Here's what we had ordered and...didn't finish. Had to pack home the unfinished food. All in all, it was a very nice lunch. Was very full. But I am hungry now again. See you again...am going to hunt for food.

Loving Siblings...

These two kitties are so cute. They appeared months ago in one of the carparks near my place. I will see them both every monring when I am on my way to work. They are always together, just like a pair of twins (I mean, they probably are!). Initially both kitties were very scared of people. But recently, one of them is more receptive to my touch, though it is a little nervous. The other one is still scared. Whenever I walk near it, it will walk away first, so you will never get anywhere near it!

This morning, since am not working, I walked to the carpark to see both of them (well at least I have more time than the normal working days to play with them). They are so cute. As usual, the more timid one will 'siam' whenever I tried to walk near it. But I was so happy the other one actually walked to my side on its own accord. Heehee...Now the challenge is to make the other one my friend too!

Caught a pic of their loving moments. Nice!

What I have missed out during the 10 days?

2 important dates happened during this 10 days of my absence and I was not able to blog specifically on those dates:

12 September: My 4th anniversary at my current workplace. One word to describe: AMAZING. I think that's about enough.

16 September: Birthday of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. Happy Birthday, Sir!

9.46pm

I am back!

Yes, I am back to net surfing at home after about 10 days. This is a long weekend and I hope to come back earlier than the planned 14 days.

The break has been great. It has changed me lots. The break has cleared up a lot of things in my mind. It has injected a stronger dosage of positivism than I ever had. It has made me reflect on a lot of things during this period and made me a stronger person!

I am back with more force, zest and life. I am more like me! I am BACK IN ACTION!

Ok, folks. So much for the craps above. Don't believe a single thing up there. I am just me. I am still me. It's just that...I am back! And wireless at home. And who says wireless is faster! CRAP!

But the system is still slow, Facebook is still irritating, Blogger is still getting on my nerves!. I wonder why. Technology didn't seem to improve while I was away! Errors here, errors there.

Sigh. That's what I call the real world that we can't avoid.

Technology Sucks! Taking a 2-week break

Technology has been up to my neck of late. Washing machine, aircon, computers, network connection. And even Blogger. They are designed to help things but in the end they are also the very things that cause you (or rather ME) lots of problems.

I have decided to take a two-week break from computer (er... excluding office use, that is) to show myself that I can go on my daily life without it!

By all means, I can go on my life without washing machine, without aircon too (I never needed one before and I don't need one now). Let's just go back to manual work!

So folks, I have been technology-frus. Am taking a home break from today for two weeks. See you in two weeks' time at Blogger.

Remember to come back to me! :)
